After studying sculpture at City and Guilds of London Art College, Thomas completed a degree in furniture and product design at Kingston University. Early on in his career he was a freelance Project Manager renovating residential and commercial sites for high end clients including a world famous Chelsea footballer, and then at Becher Joinery. He left London in 2013 for Herefordshire to establish his workshop, Thomas Crawley Bespoke Furniture.
Recent commissions have included the tasting table and seating for the private dining room at Berry Brothers & Rudd in St James's, a bespoke classic Air Stream interior in cedar with walnut detailing, and an ebonised sapele four poster bed and a cast jesmonite fire fender commissioned by interior decorators Colefax & Fowler.
Over the past decade, while simultaneously running his bespoke furniture business, in his spare time Thomas completed the restoration of the derelict 6,000 square foot 500 year old timber and stone court house his family moved to when they left London. Within the complete renovation, included reinstating a moat, installing a hidden library bookcase door, and creating a stainless steel and oak helical spiral staircase. The views overlooking the unspoilt Herefordshire countryside have provided much of the inspiration for his eponymous signature collection.
